J. Bart Miller
Principal
Mr. J. Bart Miller has over 23 years of experience in providing risk management and commercial/professional insurance solutions to clients throughout the United States. His expertise extends well beyond the realm of insurance. Over the years, Bart has become a trusted strategic advisor to professional, commercial and personal clients.
Prior to founding Sterling Risk Advisors in 2003, Bart was a Principal at one of Atlanta’s oldest insurance brokerage firms. He previously served as Vice President and Assistant Administrator at Northside Hospital from 1972 – 1988, honing his expertise in the medical marketplace.
Bart attended the University of Georgia for two years before transferring to the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University where he received both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He has subsequently served as part-time faculty member at Georgia State University. Before college he attended The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee where he has remained active over the years receiving Baylor’s Distinguished Service Award in 1995 and Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010.
With a dedication to giving back to the community, Bart has served on the Board of Trustees of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (1999 – 2006) and was named to the school’s Athletic Wall of Fame in 2010. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the George West Mental Health Foundation - Skyland Trail (1990 – 2011). Bart has been active in the Boy Scouts of America as an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, and as Camp Chief of Wood Badge Training. He received the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award for Distinguished Service to Youth in 1978.
Bart is a member of University Yacht Club, serving as Club Commodore in 1986 – 1987. He and his wife Carol are parish members at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church and have three children: John, Elizabeth and Bartley and five grandchildren.
