Architects and engineers have professional liability exposure for every project for which they provide services. Because architects’ and engineers’ projects are often complex and have many components, one policy does not work for all of them. The policies that we offer include:
  • Standard Practice—coverage for customary architectural and engineering firms. This includes unusual hybrid or difficult to place projects. There are no restrictions on the size or type of the project.

  • Contractor’s Contingent—protects a contractor from a liability which resulted from an error by the architect or design professional that they hired.

  • Project Coverage—coverage for specific projects only. There are no restrictions on the size or type of the project. It can cover one design firm, an entire team, or just selected members.
We provide customized insurance solutions for each design professional, offering unique professional liability products that suit their needs. In achieving an adequate insurance program, we utilize proper risk management techniques and apply them to each design professional’s situation. First, a trained insurance professional guides the design professional through a survey of risk exposure analysis of their firm. After identifying the exposures to loss, the next step is to eliminate as many exposures to those losses as possible by eliminating business practices that expose the firm to loss, or modifying terms of professional service agreements. Then we review the firm’s ability for assuming risks, determining their level of retention of loss. Last but not least, we transfer the risks that the design firm either cannot assume due to financial reasons or do not want to assume themselves through the use multiple insurance products.
